The Value Of Finding A Snoring Cure

by Carol Bartram on December 5, 2009

There are lots of cures for snoring out there. You might be tempted to ask, why bother? After all, with the exception of Sleep Apnea, snoring isn’t dangerous. Plus, it’s just a bit of noise. Funny noise, perhaps, but there’s no harm in it, is there? Well, think again. This article takes a look at the ways in which Snoring can cause real problems.

It’s worth noting at the outset that snoring afflicts both men and women, of all ages, shapes and sizes. Technically, it’s classed as a sleep disorder, but it’s unusual amongst sleep disorders in so much as it isn’t always the snorer themselves who suffers. I think we all know what I’m talking about when I say that the real victim, in a lot of instances, is not the snorer, but the people around them. Let me tell you a true story about a friend of mine. We’ll call him Simon, as that was his name. He was a lovable guy, funny, intelligent, friendly, the life and soul of the party. He was also known for having the loudest snore of anyone I have EVER heard.

My friends and I would often go camping together, and it was a common experience for people to refuse to pitch their tent anywhere near Simon’s. You could always tell which tent was his, as there was a virtual cordon zone around it, a band of empty space separating Simon from all his friends. He never seemed to take this personally- in fact it was laughed about many a time. He would loudly protest that he never saw a problem with it, and that everyone else was making it up.

Simon seemed cheerfully unaffected by the fact that he snored so loud. He was, or at least he seemed to be, the kind of cheerful person who really didn’t mind being the butt of endless jokes about the noise he made. No-one ever thought any less of him, either.

But let’s think for a minute about what it would be like to be in the same bed as someone who snored that loud. A snorer doesn’t just snore, they can snore constantly, for extended periods of time. All through the night, in some cases. If you’re unfortunate to be kept awake by a snorer, imagine what it can feel like to lie there next to them, and unless you’re a remarkably tolerant or oblivious individual, it can be very hard indeed to get through a whole night’s sleep without being woken up. Now, we’ve all got different tolerance levels, but I know how I feel when I’ve had a few nights of broken sleep- I’m cranky, I can’t focus, and I really just want to lie down somewhere in peace.

Now, imagine that the reason you feel like that is because of your partner’s snoring. Imagine looking across at them at 3am as they slumber peacefully, making a noise that makes sleeping impossible for you. Think about how that would make you feel.

Now can you see why a Cure For Snoring is a good thing? If you snore, I guarantee you your partner certainly can!
