What can I do about a snoring husband? is a question that women have asked for many, many years. Chances are that your husband will fall asleep as soon as his head hits the pillow and then start making noises that sound like a chainsaw. You prod him, he grunts and turns over and theres silence what a relief!! But no, its only temporary because just as youre falling asleep, he starts snoring again.
There are some weird and wonderful contraptions which companies offer as a snoring solution. Indeed, some of them can appear as if they came from a medieval torture chamber rather than a medical laboratory. They include straps to try and keep a persons mouth closed during the night, anti snoring pillows and mouthpieces which will adjust the position of the jaw during sleep.
You are less likely to snore if you sleep on your side rather than on your back. However, although this sounds good in theory, there is a problem. No matter how hard you try to go to sleep on your side, the chances are that you will roll over onto your back during the night and this will mean that you start snoring. One solution is to lie on your side and prop pillows against your back hopefully this will discourage you from rolling over in the night.
Snoring can put a great strain on even the most stable of relationships. If someone is suffering from sleep deprivation on a regular basis, they are much more likely to also suffer from stress. This, in turn, means that things which would not normally upset them suddenly appear as insurmountable problems. Once a persons sleep patterns become irregular, this can be very difficult to cure.
A corpulent person is more likely to snore than someone who is in the normal weight range. This is probably because if you are overweight your muscle tone is not as good which will mean that you are at greater risk of snoring when you are asleep. A healthy diet, including drinking plenty of water, can also help. As well as making you feel better, you are much less likely to disturb your partner during the night.
Some medicines prescribed by doctors can result in you snoring, although this should only be a temporary problem whilst you are taking the medication. A common side effect with some types of medication is that they make you drowsy. If you are taking these drugs over a long period of time it can prove more of a challenge if you are trying to find a solution to your snoring.
Because snoring does not always have the same root-cause, it follows that one snoring solution will not work for everyone. There are multiple reasons why people snore, so individuals need to identify what the specific reason for this is in their case. Once the reason has been discovered, it is much easier to find a solution which will definitely work.
Although the medical profession does not tend to consider snoring as a reason why you should visit a doctor, if you are a constant snorer you may be suffering from a condition called sleep apnea. This means that you may stop breathing whilst you are asleep sometimes for up to 10 seconds. Naturally, this can sometimes cause problems and it is well worth having a chat with your doctor and getting it checked out.
