If you are the kind of person who is interested in trivia and who always wants to know things just in case they come up in a quiz heres a piece of knowledge you can use to astound your friends. If someone asks what a mandibular shield is, you can tell them that its a special type of gum shield which is used as an anti-snoring device.

Lots of people have an allergy to feathers in duvets and pillows. This can mean that you have an increased chance of suffering from a blocked nose when you go to bed. This, in turn, means you are much more likely to snore. If this is the case, nasal dilators can offer a cure as they open up the passages in your nose.

It might sound a bit funny to try and go to sleep whilst wearing a snoring chin strap but it can make all the difference to your partner if you keep them awake because you snore. Chin straps are designed as a device to stop you snoring because they hold your mouth closed whilst you sleep.

A device which is sometimes used to help people stop snoring is a continuous positive airway machine. It delivers compressed air through a tube into a mask which is worn on the face to help reduce irregular and obstructed breathing. As well as helping people breathe normally whilst asleep, it also reduces snoring.

Quite a sizeable industry has grown up around advertising devices which will either reduce or eliminate snoring. One such product is a special pillow which offers much more support than normal pillows. This means that your breathing will remain more regular whilst you are asleep which, in turn, means you are much less likely to snore.

You are much less likely to snore if you sleep on your side. This is because when you lie on your back, your throat muscles relax more and your tongue vibrates which causes snoring. There are various devices which can help you sleep on your side including those which deter you from rolling over onto your back in bed.

Whilst surgery is seen as a last resort for snoring, it is becoming more and more popular. More medical professionals now offer this type of surgery but it should only be considered in extreme cases. Surgery to cure snoring normally entails removing the uvula which vibrates and causes snoring. Its quite a major procedure and the decision to have this surgery should not be taken lightly.

One thing that may reduce the chances of you snoring is to have a good look at your lifestyle. Rather than spend a lot of time researching different devices which promise a cure, why not take a few simple steps yourself to see if this helps. The effects of taking regular exercise, eating healthily and stopping smoking can work wonders, not only for you but also for your partner who suffers disturbed nights when you snore.
