Anyone who is a snorer, or who has the misfortune to live with one, deserves a lot of sympathy and understanding, because snoring can ruin your life and the lives of those around you.
If you are the ‘snorer’ and you share a bedroom with someone, the chances are you become very unpopular, especially during the night, and often wake in the morning, all on your own, suffering from bruising and sore ribs, having been pushed, dug in the ribs and maybe kicked by your irate partner who, when on the point of drifting into blissful slumber, is jerked back to painful reality by the hideous noises emanating from you. Not only will your beloved appear bleary eyed and bad tempered in the morning, but you will too, since the chances are neither of you has slept well.
If, as happens in a lot of cases, the snorer is a big person and a heavy sleeper who insists on sleeping on his back, and is out like a light as soon as his head hits the pillow, trying to get him to roll onto his side can be a major problem involving a lot of tugging and pushing and all to no avail. In such a case the ‘innocent’ party can end up causing physical injury to herself. A very good cure for this type of snoring is a tennis ball sewn into the back of the snorer’s pyjama jacket thus preventing him from rolling onto his back without a great deal of discomfort.
Nasal strips are said to be very effective in a lot of cases. These peculiar looking strips, which are placed across the bridge of the nose, hold open the airways and reduce the amount of noise and if the cause of the problem is narrow airways then nasal strips often eliminate it.
Another remedy, which is very effective in a lot of cases, is Aromalites Snoring Remedy. This comprises two jars of essential oils: one of marjoram and the other of lavender; both jars to be left open in the snorer’s bedroom both day and night for a month. After that it is only necessary to open the jars at night. The purpose of the marjoram is to clear the sinuses and lessen the vibration at the back of the throat, thus reducing snoring. The lavender is a great relaxant and promotes deep, restful sleep, which is beneficial not only to the person who used to snore but also to the partner who put up with it. The result is a much happier household and the risk of physical violence is eliminated.
